As a student at Vanderbilt University, I am pursuing dual majors in the Communication of Science and Technology and Earth & Environmental Sciences.

I also serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors of Vanderbilt Student Communications, Inc. (VSC), which is responsible for all student media at Vanderbilt University, including print, broadcast, and web media properties.

In my spare time, I work as a reporter and videographer, producing and editing video news reports about campus events every other week for VSC's news site, InsideVandy.com. In addition, I've spearheaded the creation of a new science section on InsideVandy.com, which posts new content weekly.

My work for InsideVandy.com has given me experience in the logistics of video news-gathering, including story research, identification and contact of interviewees, interview techniques, and deadline-driven editing. I also have produced several videos of backpacking and rock-climbing trips in state and national parks in the Southeastern US.

I am experienced in a variety of writing styles, including persuasive, advocacy, and technical writing, as well as AP-style journalism.

I have worked with video for much of my life. Prior to enrolling at Vanderbilt, I co-founded the Franklin High School Film Association, and served two and a half years as its president, organizing and managing multiple student production teams. During my tenure, our group created twelve fictional short films.  On most of these films I served as field producer, director, cinematographer, and/or principal editor.

I have experience with both SD and HD digital video cameras, including both tape and hard-drive systems, and a solid understanding of video and audio capture and ingest principles.

In the area of post-production, I have nearly a thousand hours' experience with Final Cut, and extensive practical experience with both SD and HD production workflows.  I also have a basic understanding of web video publishing and I post frequently to various sites, including YouTube, Facebook, Blip and Vimeo.

I have also published text and video stories on several different content-management systems, including Drupal.
